I would like to boot from CD and reinstall OS, but altho boot disc shows on desktop, a restart with C key down does nothing. Should not this process be the same as in all my Macs?
Nope. To force boot from a CD use the famous "four finger salute". Hold down: command+option+shift+delete keys while starting up. Using the "C" key for force boot came along after Power Computing's heyday.
