I have a PTP with a Sonnet 450/1M G3 CPU card and an ATA card described by ASP as
follows:

>Slot B1
>SCSI card
>Card type: scsi
>Card name: ACARD,6260
>Card model: ACARD,6260
>Card ROM #: Not available
>Card revision: 1
>Card vendor ID: 1191

(I think it's a Sonnet card but I'm not sure, and I don't want to go to the trouble of
opening up the computer and pulling the card right now.)

I have two Maxtor hard drives connected to the acard. One of them -- the one
containing my startup volume with OS 9.2.2 -- was formatted with Silverlining Pro 6.4.
In the normal startup sequence, the first thing I see is a little box in the lower
right corner of the screen that indicates the bus # and ID if the disk that was
formatted by Silverlining. Then I see the Happy Mac, etc.

But somtimes when I start up, the computer freezes while displaying the Silverlining
box. I don't get a Mac icon, happy, sad or inquisitive! After much trial and error, I
discovered that all I have to do when this happens is shut the computer off for a few
seconds and on again! So the problem is not serious, but I'm worried that it may be
something that can become worse. I want to fix the problem before that happens.

By the way, I have a new Sonnet ATA-133 card that I was thinking of putting in to
replace the 66MHz ACARD. A few of questions:

1) Is it likely to solve my problem?

2) Are drives formatted on one ATA card always readable with another? I know that
they're sometimes not readable with Apple's built-in ATA, and vice versa.

3) Given the bus speed of the PTP, would the faster ATA card make much of a difference
in tasks like digitizing video? I have an ixTV card for that purpose, but I haven't
used it recently.

4) Can I have both ATA cards in the computer at once? I was thinking of doing this and
comparing the performance with various combinations of cards and drives connected to
them.
