If I may jump in, though, what about the buss speed? Doesn't that put a
damper on any processor improvement?

As usual I was ready for bad news ;-)
I already had a Sonnet G3 card in my PTP so I did luck out on that.
I knew there were some boards with compatibility problems but I
thought you had to try the card to find out.
Still learning new things about my favorite Mac.
