Yes to both. But the problem is not that they are "OS 9-ish" or "retro- looking," although they are. It's that they are not well designed. Sensible people don't criticize the Venus de Milo for looking ancient, or the Mona Lisa for looking too Renaissance. So, if PowerMail creates really good new icons, it won't matter if they "look like a modern OSX app" (as another correspondent put it) in the future when OS XV makes OS X look "retro."
