Slowness

If I leave my G4 PowerBook at work overnight or over a weekend and
PowerMail is running, the email program is very slow to respond when I
return the next workday morning.  To get things back to normal, I
generally quite and relaunch the program.

    PowerMail 4.1 (I'm updating after I send this)
    Mac OS X v10.2.4
    PowerBook G4 (Ti) 500 Mhz w/ 256M RAM

Does anyone else experience this?  Has anyone heard of this before?
