Fermi 2 has Axis 214 PTZ network cameras we plan on using inside and outside our drywell for our upcoming outage. We have a Cisco Catalyst 2960 Series SI POE-24 switch that will be used for network connectivity and to supply power via POE. Since the 214 doesn't have POE built in we are using an Axis high power splitter to separate out the power and data. My problem - the cameras that are on the short (50 foot) network cables seem to stay connected consistently. Some of the other 5 units on longer (175 foot) network cables come and go as far as connectivity goes. I've tried different cables and high power splitters and the camera may come back and then I loose connectivity with a different one. In order to use these cameras for our outage they need to be more reliable than they are. Anyone got any trade secrets they would like to share that may be able to help me out? I'm stuck with using the 214 since its what I have and with a hybrid analog/digital infrastructure I need to be able to decode the 214 signal with an Axis 292 decoder. Thanks in advance for any help you can be. Brad Krupp Fermi 2 734-586-4084
