1. How frequently should a count room (plant or environmental) do a salt load study for alpha self absorption corrections?
2. Although much less crucial, does your facility do salt load corrections for beta self absorption in your plant count room? In your environmental count room? 3. For tritium counting with liquid scintillation, how frequently do you generate new quench curves for your LS counting system? What triggers the generation of a new quench curve? It has been a long time since I have seen guidance from the NRC, INPO, or anyone in these areas other than old operator's manuals for instruments. Greg Gowdy, PhD, CHP Sr. Staff Health Physicist V.
