I have had good experiences with Mike Podobnick (sp?) at Teletrix. They have some simulators that go between the probe and instrument that were pretty neat. The RPTs were able to use normal type instrumentation (e.g., Ludlum Model 3 with a variety of probes) and the simulation was created by remote control.

We do use simulator software for our remote monitoring training and other means to provide indications to Tech's (loss of video, communication, etc.) to indicate problems. Our Technical Training group is also evaluating the use of Radio Controlled Survey Instruments for use in the practical portion of RWT Training. Also, we are implementing the use of Dynamic Learning Activities (DLAs) and would like to share ideas in that arena as well. Any information pertaining to either of these training methods would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. GGNS is a single unit with 34 members in the target audience. 1. Number, type, manufacturer, etc. recommended for initial setup of radio controlled instruments. 2. Approximate cost for initial setup and periodic repair, reprogram, etc. 3. Have you had any problems with your brand, type, etc instruments? 4. Do you use count room instrumentation, friskers, etc.? 5. Is radio controlled telemetry used? If there is anything else I should have asked, but didn't, feel free to provide the answer. Also, I'd be interested in any DLAs you have performed that really hit the mark.
