Make sure you evaluate your beta to gamma ratio. IE 81-07 states you need to
meet 5000 dpm combined beta/gamma. With a gamma sensitive SAM, you need to
consider your isotopic mix, and adjust the gamma set point accordingly.

Subject: Powernet: Sensitivity Study Benchmark

At Ginna Station we have performed a sensitivity study on our personnel exit
monitors, basically seeing how low we can reasonably go with our alarm set
points and adjusted them accordingly.

The question has come up about the SAMs. Does your site set the alarm set
points to 5,000 dpm or have you performed tests to see how low you can go and
adjusted accordingly?

Thanks for your input...
