North Anna uses both color coded survey maps and standard radiological survey maps for worker's reference at the HP Office. In addition, we have a copy of the work area prior to entrances for "High Radiation Areas".
For changing conditions, we use signs & flashing lights, television monitors, etc to increase the "media coverage" of significant changes in radiological conditions. We are upgrading to VSDS and hopefully this will allow worker's the ability to review radiological surveys via the LAN connect computers. Barbara J. At Palo Verde during non-outage periods we typically post the most recent survey information outside of rooms and areas to inform workers (10CFR19.12); however, due to rapidly changing radiological conditions during outages we suspend this practice and have workers interface directly with RP at various control points to ensure that they have the latest radiological information. Since 2008 we have implemented an electronic survey system that allows all workers to access the latest survey information from any LAN connect computer; however, we still use a non-outage posting strategy that includes using color coded survey maps outside of room to indicate various dose gradients in an area. Palo Verde is looking at this practice and would like to know what other plants do "to properly warn workers of radiological hazards, e.g., posting copies of the most recent survey information, electronic status boards or survey maps, etc. Seth. ********************************************************************** Seth J.
