To all- One of our colleagues in chemistry attended a conference and
brought back the following OPEX. We were asked to poll the industry .
" Co-60 concentrations at FitzPatrick took a step change
decrease following the fall 2008 refueling outage. The station did
replace eight OEM CRBs in the fall 2008 refueling outage, but station
experience shows that a step
change decrease in Co-60 concentrations did not occur with a
similar number of OEM CRBs replaced in past outages.
* According to the station, in the fall 2008 refueling a
significant effort was implemented to vacuum out portions of the RPV.
The annulus was vacuumed as well as guide tubes (for removed CRDs)
during CRD exchange. "
