North Anna's response:

1. No frisking required. Traveling from one RCA to an adjacent RCA.

2. A whole body frisk prior to exit.

3. The majority of times a whole body frisk prior to exit. If background
levels do not allow (> 200 cpm) then guidance is provided to the worker for a
hands & foot frisk and to proceed to the nearest monitoring station.

4. Previously yes. We now require a whole body frisk prior to exit unless
background levels do not allow.

Subject: Powernet: Bench Marking Questions

Columbia Generating Station would like to benchmark the industry on
Radiological Controlled Areas (RCA), exit practices outside of established RCA
exit points. Areas such as exits through doorways, rollup doors, hatch to
outside RCA, e.g. rooftops, or satellite RCA. Your response or comments to the
following questions are greatly appreciated.

 1. When exiting the RCA from inside the power block to an RCA outside the
power block which is exposed to the environment, do you require?
    * A whole body frisk prior to exit.
    *   Hand and foot frisk.
    *   No frisking required.
    * Other, please provide a brief summary.

 1. When exiting the RCA to a non-RCA through doorways, rollup doors or truck
bays what are your personnel frisking requirements?
    * A whole body frisk prior to exit.
    * A whole body frisk prior to exit and proceed to the nearest Whole Body
contamination monitor.
    * Hand and foot frisk prior to exit and proceed to the nearest Whole Body
contamination monitor.
    * Other, please provide a brief summary.

 1. When exiting satellite RCA's which are established outside the main RCA
and are exposed to the environmental elements what are your personnel frisking
requirements?
    * A whole body frisk prior to exit.
    * A whole body frisk prior to exit and proceed to the nearest Whole Body
contamination monitor.
    * Hand and foot frisk prior to exit and proceed to the nearest Whole Body
contamination monitor.
    * Exit the area and proceed to nearest Whole Body contamination monitor.
    * Other, please provide a brief summary.

                     4. Does your facility have any satellite
RCA's which do not require personnel to complete a whole body or hand and foot
frisk upon exit?
