Subject: RE: Powernet: State Radiation Rules vs. six-month dosimetry monitoring
periods.

South Texas Project response.

No. However, certain state licensees do have a specified monitoring interval
by state regulations, e.g., radiographers. We process dosimetry for plant
staff (NRC license) every six months but monthly for the radiographers on site.
I'd check the state regulations to see whether the quarterly interval is
applicable to all dosimetry monitoring periods or just to specific categories
of state licensees.

Fermi 2 and other NRC Licensed facilities are moving towards six-month
dosimetry monitoring periods. When I stated that to an inspector from The
State of Michigan he said that would be a noncompliance issue. He said
Michigan Rules state that monitoring periods must not be greater then
quarterly. Has anyone else run into this problem?
