Browns Ferry is currently having a campaign of dry cask operations. Last week a power transient caused our RMS-3 to alarm. The refuel floor was appropriately evacuated until the cause could be determined and surveys performed. We have gotten an alarm in the past during electrical board switching and need to find away to prevent the false alarm. The vendor gave us a few suggestion on modifying the detector and set up but I am hesitant to try it since it is a piece of safety equipment.
I have a couple questions:
When performing Dry cask do you use a criticality alarm?
If you are using the RMS-3 do you ever get false alarms due to power
transients? If so, what have you done to prevent it?
Is there a better alternative to the RMS-3?
Thanks in advance for your time
