I'm trying to determine industry best practices for performing alpha frisking
(required by EPRI for areas with Beta-Gamma:Alpha ratios less than 50:1) and if
our procedures are in line with the rest of you.

What specific guidance/precautions do you have in your procedures regarding
alpha frisking?
Examples might include requiring an RP Tech to observe or perform the frisking,
stopping and holding the frisker at certain body locations for a specified
period of time, frisker speed and distance, actions if any counts are recorded,
etc

Ginna procedure guidance is as follows:

WHEN frisking for alpha,
PASS detector slowly (0.5 to 1 inch per second) over surface being monitored, at
a distance no greater than 1/4 inch.

Thanks,
-Steve
