North Anna performs dry fuel storage using the NUHOMS system. We perform all loading operations inside our Fuel Building. Cask assembly is performed inside a building. Transfer of the Dry Shielded Container (DSC) is performed outside at our ISFSI.
Loading and movement of the NUHOM cask requires continuous HP coverage. Loading operations are performed in an RCA and posted "contaminated area". Follow-up contamination surveys (loose and fixed) are performed once the DSC has been loaded into the storage module at the ISFSI. A catch device is utilized for any residual water in the gap between the Transfer Cask and the Dry Shielded Container. Barbara J.
