Seabrook SAMS the hard hats. We used to let workers wear hard hat through IPM.
This practice ended when a tepid particle was found on the inner brim of a
hard hat that a worker had been leaving in the RCA due to repeated "radon"
alarms on the hat.

One minor up-side to requiring hard hats be monitored in SAM, is less true
radon alarms than when hard hats were worn in IPM's.

Graham - please forward to rest of powernet - as my previous posts have not
been getting through.

Subject: Powernet: Hard Hats at RCA Exit

Duke Energy would like to know what policy other sites have for hard hats at
the RCA exit. Do you require employees to put them in the SAM with other
personal hand carried items or do you have employees wear the hard harts
through the whole body monitor(s) (Argos/PCM/Portal)

Duke's current "empty pockets" policy requires hard hats be monitored through
the SAM and we are interested in what other policies are being used and what
technical justification, if any, the policy based on.

Thanks,
Graham Johnson
