We currently store our DLRs on security key cards and would appreciate your input on the below questions: 1) What type of DLR (TLD, OSL, Film) do you use? OSLD 2) Does your site take DLRs home? Yes. 3) If no, how/where do you store them on site? Only control stored on site. 4) If yes, do you use control dosimetry from on-site, off-site, or both to subtract background radiation? On-site Control badges stored outside of the PA in dosimetry office. No offsite controls. 5) How do you do DLR exchange and how long does it take you? We change them out semi annually Jan. 1st and July 1st. We always have a few that take a week or so to change out. We lock the old badges out of the RCA, so it helps with quick return for most. 6) Any other pros/cons of taking DLRs home vs staying on site? Taking DLR's home is common practice in many applications of dosimetry. This is also widely practiced in the medical profession (hospitals, radiology,etc.) and is accepted practice with regulatory agencies. It also is very appropriate if you consider Emerg. Response Activities and Radworkers that would need to report to various locations during an event, i.e. they would have their DLR's on the way in to the plant; otherwise, if stored onsite, access to them may be an issue in a real event.
