Perhaps moisture content in the smears that reduced over time?  While the thin 
window GM and PIPS detectors are both good detectors, they won't have the same 
lower energy response...

Subject: Powernet: 3030P beta response

Has anyone experienced a significant difference between Ludlum 3030P beta 
response and traditional beta-gamma detectors/scalers.  We have seen a 
significant under-response with the 3030P as compared to frisker when counting 
a smear from an electron capture area.  Two days later the instrument results 
were the same.
