Hi All,
Do you have a formalized process for suspending Emergency Responder
qualifications due to RP issues. For example:
1) Do you allow declared pregnant workers (DPW) to fill control room minimum
staff shift positions? If not, do you have a formalized process for suspending
a qualification or is the process tracking manually.
2) Do you allow DPWs to fill RP/Chemistry Technician minimum staffing shift
positions? Again, if not, do you have a formalized process.
Diablo Canyon does not allow DPWs to fill a control room min staff position
because the postulated worst case dose calculation for control room personnel
is above 500 mrem. Similarly, a DPW RP/Chem technician cannot fill one of the
minimum staffing positions on backshifts or weekends because they are not
eligible for emergency exposures. We do not have a formalized process of
actually suspending qualifications but we have been asked by our Operations
organization to evaluate available options.
