Response from Southern California Edison-SONGS:

We use the DMC 2000 ped and have experienced spurious alarms for the following reasons:
  • Welding - during welding process,  became too close to components and alarmed due to frequency.
  • Battery issues - battery compartment became damaged or cover not installed correctly
  • iPam - ped incorrectly installed
  • Security - ped alarm due to armory door sensor - frequency
  • cell phone - again frequency,
  • check other components or RF equipment being used in area.
These are rare occurrences, otherwise the device is quite stable.

Subject:        Powernet: Invalid EPD Dose Rate Alarms
Sent by:        [email protected]

Duke Energy Progress-Brunswick site is experiencing a higher than usual occurrence of invalid EPD dose rate alarms, using the DMC2000. Other than the human performance factor (dropping, bumping etc), does anyone have any information concerning any configuration/ operational issues with the EPD proper that may be a contributor to spurious rate alarms?

Thank you for your time
