DCPP currently uses DMC3000’s. Here’s some feedback: Battery longevity – seems to be at least 9 months. Battery brand – Energizer AAA Haven’t seen a corrosion issue. Sleep mode appears to be effective for extended battery life, but is causing a timing problem with our Sentinel RCA access program – more specifically the “beep check”. On occasion, the dosimeter goes into alarm and stays there during login. We don’t currently use the beep check function but discovered this during testing. We’ve been working with PTI on the problem and it’s not as frequent, but still occasionally occurs. The dosimeter performs its own self diagnostic speaker check and reports a “buzz def” in the event of failure. We currently performance check 5% of our dosimeters in use on a daily basis (this is not an industry wide practice and we are preparing to discontinue this). We also perform an annual cal verification. No display fading problems; we had a few cracked lenses early on, but that has subsided. We have always had a small percentage of dose rate spikes with our ED’s dating back to Thermo EPD Mk2’s and their sensitivity to security card readers. We are seeing a higher incidence with the DMC3000’s (~0.04% of all entries). One cause is due to light interaction through the front LED. I believe Mirion has remedied this problem going forward but you’d have to verify that with them. Overall we’ve had good experiences with the DMC3000’s. We plan to implement the telemetry feature in our fall outage.
