Dave..

We discourage this practice. If there is justification, we would allow by
surveying the helmet before it went into the RCA, would not allow it to come
in and out, and then the worker would be required to sign a statement that he
understood that it may not be able to be free released at end of assignment.

Subject: Powernet: free release of "personal" welding hoods

Hello all,
Please relay how your station handles welding helmets inside your Restricted
Areas.
Does your site allow the use of "personal" welding helmets inside your
Restricted Areas and thus allow their free release on an as needed (daily)
basis?
At Cook we supply (standard quality) welding hoods in our hot tool crib, but
some welders don't want to wear others' "PPE", citing germs, sweat, cooties....
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,

Dave Raye
