Hello, Our Security department at D. C. Cook is currently requesting that we notify them of all incoming radioactive shipments prior to the material arriving on site. RP is not always formally notified by the originating department (ie, projects, engineering, etc.) until after the shipments have arrived on site. We are trying to determine how the rest of the industry handles incoming shipments:
1. Do you have a formal process for RP AND/OR Security to be informed of ALL radioactive shipments prior to the material arriving on site (including sources, radiography equipment, smoke detectors, etc)? 2. What kinds of documentation or notifications does RP or the originating department complete for incoming radioactive shipments? 3. What method(s) have you used to prevent non-RP personnel from opening incoming radioactive shipments? 4. What additional notifications or documentation is used for incoming Category 1 or 2 materials?
