At STP we have SAIC PDE-4s and PDE-5s with the extremity probes as well as a set of DMC-2000s with the IMUX. The SAIC System has a 100' antenna cable that attaches to the outside of the diving suit; we have not had a problem with signal loss. We use Viewpoint to monitor the divers. We have a windows based program to set up and calibrate the PDE-4s. We rarely dive, so the equipment doesn't get used much and doesn't wear out.

Used the DMC3000 and had great coverage. Did a few weeks of diving in the equipment pit for an EPU outage dryer cut up and works great. Much better than the old iMUX. Was getting 4-8 second response on each dosimeter as compared to 30-40 seconds on older system. No lost contacts, no wires, no imux to dig into the divers. Was very skeptical at beginning of the outage and would hate to go back to the old system. Please use caution when opening. During our last outage in February we used the Mirion DMC 3000 TX communicating wirelessly to an active dive antenna attached to the diver outside the divers suit. The antenna is wired along the umbilical to a Mirion Adaptive Wireless Monitor configured as a base station. The AWM is then networked to our remote monitoring program. The WRM transmitter module is strong enough to penetrate at least a couple meters of water which made it not an issue to transmit from the legs or arms directly to the dive antenna. Using this method we completed at least a half dozen dives with the dosimeter update time never exceeding 8 seconds and zero lost contacts. I got the idea from Plant Hatch who has been using this method for the last three years. No more IMUX, no more wires inside the suit, no more lost contacts resulting in having to pull the diver out of the water, cuts number of potential failure points in half which greatly simplifies testing requirements and uses equipment in use elsewhere in the plant which removes requirement to train people each year on equipment that is only ever used for diving. In the past we have used the Mirion IMUX and associated hardware to remotely monitor divers radiation exposure.
