so, speaking of QEmu... QEmu is IMO the ideal solution since it would allow anyone to wander off with the code and a working target to help out.
Other option I thought of was that at the Dev summit there was an ODW hooked up to be powered on by ethernet. Something like that with a terminal server hooked up as well posted somewhere public might be an idea as well. For example if people could reserve time on the ODW to run things & be given an easy way to lay down a tarball of the boot stuff ( nfsroot and tftpboot ) and have at it for a few hours
