How do they ( http://opensolaris.org/os/community/tools/gcc/ ) build Solaris with gcc sucessfully? (I did this just once back in early October.) Probably not with GNU-ld, but with Solaris-ld. Is there really no way to enhance GNU-ld appropriately, taking into account that we have both sources? martin
