Excellent points. I should be a bit more open about what I am doing. I was hoping that what I was doing is actually creating a toolchain for our work on Fedora Core 4 on the Genesi ODW for he purpose of getting OpenSolaris ( Polaris ) moving forwards. We need standard tools between us and we seem to have tacit agreement ( silent non-argument ) on Fedora Core 4. What I have done then is to build from first principles the needed compiler ( GCC 3.4.4 ) and binutils etc etc to work with. I have bootstrapped twice now and can verify some degree of trust. I should really post the testsuite results however. I was getting to that. Thus far this has allowed me to create a working GRUB2 as well as some other things like parted ( which was trivial, great code ! ) Thus, if its okay with you all I want to continue along the path I am marching and then share everything I do as verbosely as possible. Does this make sense to you all ? Dennis
