On FC6, if I configure kpowersave to lock the screen when the lid is closed, I frequently find that while the screen has locked, the screen has not been blanked. If I disable the option but use the notifications to directly invoke 'dcop kdesktop KScreensaverIface lock' from the notifications, I don't have this problem.
