Hi,
I just found a very weird but serious bug, most likely in kpowersave
I suspended my laptop today without the dock
station attached and after resuming it the keboard was locked - not even the
SysRq magic keys would work. However, ACPI's power button pressed event
_does_ work and pressing the button makes the kscreensaver's
unlock screen dialog show. So basically resuming works but I can't do
anything else with my laptop, particularly can not log in.
Please also note, that suspending/resuming works fine with dock
module attached and there are completely no external devices attached to the
docking station. So I assumed the issue is probably related to
hal/acpi/kpowersave.
My next step was checking the suspending with
echo "mem" > /sys/power/state and it worked just fine after resuming.
Another idea was to uninstall the pm-utils, assuming this should lead
kpowersave to fallback on the echo "mem" method (?). Unfortunately it
didn't help and the keyboard still does not work. I also run a script to show
the cpu usage by the processes after resuming, so even if I couldn't unlock
the screen I still knew that there was no 100%-cpu-usage-process locking
the keyboard (I know it sounds weird, but amarok sometimes DOES lock
the keyboard here that way).
I logged the kpowersave output as well, can be seen here:
        http://pastebin.ca/637933
(please note that the "power button pressed" events
at the end were caused by me trying to check if the "unlock screen"
dialog would have shown up). From the log file, could the reason possibly
be this part of the file?
  kpowersave: Not monitored device removed:
/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/platform_i8042_i8042_KBD_port_logicaldev_input
  kpowersave: [13:30:05:514][void HardwareInfo::processMessage(msg_type,
QString, QString)] OUT
  kpowersave: org.freedesktop.Hal.Manager: uid:
/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/platform_i8042_i8042_KBD_port_logicaldev_input
signal: DeviceRemoved

Finally, I did what I should do at the begninning and turn the screen
locking off. It didn't help except for allowing me to see the desktop.
However I eventually noticed that the mouse is not working either -
I missed that before.

I've no idea what to check further on.

For a note:
kpowersave-svn 2995, hal 0.5.9.1, acpid 1.0.6, kernel 2.6.22.1
