After scratching my head for an hour, wondering why the get-adfsproperties cmdlet was not present on my Windows 8.1 machine, I stumbled across the below information. It would have been nice to alias the old commands to the new, or at least throw a warning calling me a dummy for using the old cmdlet and telling me what the new name was.
