I'm not sure what exactly you mean by workload here, but I think you may find 
that what you're looking for isn't part of the OpenFlow specification (at least 
as of OpenFlow 1.2) unless polling simple counters periodically will suffice.  
But don't take my word for it -- I'd suggest you either ask on the OpenFlow 
mailing list or look through the OpenFlow specifications.  If what you need is 
available with OpenFlow 1.0 or via the Nicira/Open vSwitch extensions, it 
should be possible in POX. :)
