Legislator slams govt for intending to buy armoured vehicles without tender Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A member of the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission I, Dedy Djamaludin, here Thursday criticised the government for issuing a presidential decree to buy 32 armoured vehicles without tender on the ground that the two intitutions had earlier agreed that the purchase would be done through a tender. According to Dedy, the goverment`s action in issuing the decree to buy the 32 armoured vehicles from France was considered to have by-passed the DPR which had the right to make or approve the state budget. The DPR had previously agreed to approve a budget to buy the armoured cars provided the purchase was done through a tender, he said. "We must question the govrnment about the matter," he added. "I agree to the purchase of the armoured cars from France but the government must be transparent and accountable," he said. He also questioned the government`s plan to put the armoured cars at the disposal of the Indonesian contingent in the UN-sanctioned peacekeepig force in Lebanon. "Are the armoured cars needed in Lebanon? Are they more important than land mine destroying equipment?," he asked.
