*230 Dams store more than 1.13 Billion cubic meters of water*

Riyadh, September 20, SPA -- The number of dams in the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia until the end of the first quarter of 1427 AH., reached 230 dams with
a total storage capacity of 1,138,776,375 cubic meters of water, a report
issued by the Ministry of Water and Electricity said.

"There are 60 dams in Riyadh Region, 27 in Makkah Region, 16 in Madinah
Region, 65 in Assir Region, 17 in Hail Region, 26 in Baha Region, 6 in
Najran Region, 4 in Qassim Region, 3 in Jazan Region, 3 in Jouf Region, 2 in
Tabuk Region and 1 in Northern Border Region," the report added.

The report said that the spread of dams in the Kingdom embodies the care and
attention paid by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin
Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz to provide supportive water
sources.
