KBRI Praha akan mengusahakan akomodasi cuma-cuma. ------------------------------------------------- ======================================= INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON --------------------------------------- 100 Years of national Awakening, 80 Years of National Youth Pledge and 10 Years of Indonesian Reform; --------------------------------------- A Retrospection and Projection ======================================= PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC MONDAY, 9 JUNE 2008 Introduction ------------ The 100 years commemoration of Indonesia's National awakening, 80 years of National Youth Pledge and 10 years of Indonesian reform have inspired the Indonesian Embassy in Prague supported by the Center of Global Studies Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and Charles University in Prague, to hold an international seminar on Monday, 9 June 2008. The seminar is expected to discuss the path of nation building for Indonesia from 1908 to present, its challenges, and future projection. It is expected that during the seminar, the meaning of National Awakening (1908), National Youth Pledge (1928) and National Reform (1998) will receive special attention. It is also hoped that there will be significant attention given to serious matters on the impediments faced by Indonesia as the reason why after 60 years of independence this country is still unable to fulfill its promise to the people. Speakers --------- 1. Prof. Dr. Rudolf Mrazek, the University of Michigan, USA 2. Prof. Dr. Taufik Abdullah, Indonesian Historian (former Chairman of Indonesian Institute of Science) 3. Prof. Dr. Raymond William Liddle, the Ohio State University, USA Purpose -------- The Seminar is part of a sequence of activities by the Indonesian Embassy in Prague in 2008 in conjunction with the celebration of Golden Jubilee Indonesia-Czech Cultural Agreement with the proposed objective of introducing Indonesia to the Czech community particularly to its elites as decision makers on political and business matters. It is important for us to note that after the fall of communism in the Czech Republic, the new leaders are neither well informed nor familiar with Indonesia. For many of them, the previous close relation between Indonesia and Czechoslovakia is now only history.
