Petersburg forum to help Russia integrate into global community
MOSCOW, June 3 (RIA Novosti) The St. Petersburg economic forum gives Russia a
good opportunity to integrate into the international community and Petersburg
to eventually become an international financial center, the head of BNP
Paribas Russia division said.
The 12th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will be held on June 6-8.
Representatives of the world economic elite, both experts and economic
scholars, and prominent businessmen are expected to attend the forum.
We witnessed the development and formation of government corporations, which
eventually claimed leading positions on the world market, largely in the oil
and gas sector. But Russias plans also include measures to create leaders in
other sectors of the economy to help the country become a key player on the
international scene, Laurent Couraudon said.
However, these measures are not enough as Russia needs to keep pace with the
rest of the world and the Russian state needs to make the goals and tasks of
modern Russia comprehensible for the world public, Couraudon said.
I believe that the St. Petersburg forum is one of the milestones on the way of
solving this issue, the banker said.
