People keep saying that in this thread and it's just not true.
Even with SSE2, an K8 is a bit slower than a P4, even if they are clocked the same... Of course, a 2.4GHz K8 is just about as fast as they come, but a 2.4GHz P4 is just about the bottom of the barrel for the P4...

A lot of the difference is in how the cache operates... This is a very long article but it is worth reading all the way through...
While the article focuses on the K8 versus the P4, a lot of the info applies to the K7... Pay particular attention to the L1 and L2 cache designs and how fast they can be read and written to... AMD and Intel use totally different designs...
This topic has been beat to death on the forum...
The interesting thing is it looks like Intel is pretty much aborting the P4 at 4GHz... There may come a time in the near future when we look back on the Northwood as the golden age of Prime95 CPUs...
As much as I like running mprime optimally, my new computer I just built is a K8...
