Oops. There is no reason whatsoever to run v24 on a PIII system, you will get 
a performance loss. Shouldn't actually do any damage, though - except that 
executing an AMD-specific opcode on a non-AMD CPU may have arbitary 
consequences, possibly different depending on the stepping of the CPU being 
used.

George, perhaps it would be a Good Idea in v24 to check for Athlon or P4 CPU; 
if the CPU is something else (tm), print a warning that performance may be 
impaired, point out where to download v23.x and ask for confirmation to 
continue running.
