Umm, I agree it's "horrible advice", on grounds of security at any rate. SP2 
isn't perfect but it's a major step forward. (If they'd taken the trouble to 
make the firewall work properly it would be a lot better!)

Mind you, the _operating system_ shouldn't be broken by illegitimate software 
or other "buggy stuff". Having applications which are stolen or broken not 
run is one thing, interfering with the operation of legal software is another.

Ha, legal linux installations are cheaper than pirated copies of windoze...

I don't have much experience of XP but in my honest opinion this would be the 
experience of the vast majority of us.
