PDP-10's were ECL based machines and if I am not mistaken the failed VAX 9000 series (circa 1991) was too and that was the end of ECL (that I am aware of).

Does that bring back memories! I built a COSMAC 1802 machine (I think 1802 is the correct model number) for a logic class straight out of a Popular Science article. I had to ask my dad for $40.00 to buy the chip IIRC.

There are some nice sites, which have informations about this chip: http://www.cosmacelf.com/ http://www.sasktelwebsite.net/jbayko/cpu2.html#Sec2Part1
