Mike,

Will you consider posting all your observations, objections, suggestions and
questions to the GIMPS forum at mersenneforum.org? There, you could get
responses directly from PrimeNet administrators and others more knowlegeable
than I. I'm fairly sure that some of the people who could give you
authoritative answers do not subscribe to this mailing list, so you'd be likely
there to get better answers than I can provide.

You could explore that topic at mersenneforum.org, with a much wider audience
than you have here.

You could express that opinion at mersenneforum.org, with a much wider audience
than you have here. Why not do so?

You could explore whether such incomprehension actually exists _far_ better at
mersenneforum.org than you can here.

You could get authoritative verification (or admission!) of that by posting at
mersenneforum.org.

... which marks you as someone who could make valuable contributions to
GIMPS/PrimeNet at mersenneforum.org!

If you inquire at mersenneforum.org, you could directly converse with those who
_are_ intimately familiar with that software!

You'd have a much better opportunity to determine its probability at
mersenneforum.org than you have here.

(BTW, I'm not saying this list is useless [I wouldn't post here if it were!];
I'm saying that the sorts of issues you have raised on this list are right in
the category of those that could receive better-informed responses, or at least
receive them sooner, at mersenneforum.org than here.)

It could be of enormous benefit to GIMPS for you to post items such as that to
mersenneforum.org. If I tried to be an intermediary, there would undoubtably
be something "lost in the translation".
