Just a quick note on getting this printer to work - it didn't work smoothly
first up but after some fiddles is now going.

a) First observation - upon switching the printer on it is correctly identifed
as an Epson 890. However it generates an error on the task bar with the
printer applet popping up and saying:

"Epson 890 failed to accept"

At this point my memory is a bit hazy, I think it creates a print queue as per
under the Solaris Print Manager. However printing does not work.

b) Solution is to delete any print queues created automatically under Solaris
Print Manager.

Manually add the printer yourself under Printer -> New Attached Printer:

Printer name: using something like 'epson890'
Printer Port: the usb printer is located on machine as /dev/printers/1
Printer Make: select Epson
Printer Model: select Epson Stylus Photo 870
Printer Driver: select SUNWfootmatic(S):Foomatic/Stp870p.upp(recommended)
and tailor the rest to suit.

And you should be in action.

For testing I have printed successfully from Firefox, Test Page from StarOffice
8 and webmin test page.

c) This is using the 'lp' print service. I cannot get this printer to work with
CUPs 1.3.7 that is integrated with SXCE.

Cheers, JP
