Well the task seems to be simple at first glance:
Produce a new version of /var/lp/ppd/ppdcache file
containing entries for new printers,
and
Possibly package it with some new Foomatic script/driver.
But I Never know about new printers until I stand in front of one.
What we need here are some informers/agents at printer manufacturers that
can provide info on what a new printer_unit needs in the way of drivers/setup.
How have the /var/lp/ppd/ppdcache file been produced sofar ?
Does Wendy have all these printer units for test in her basement : -)
Or where does the data come from ?
