Glad to hear that things are working again.  There were some problems 
with evince in the past, I will take a look and see if there are any 
outstanding bugs filed.  If not, I will file one if need be.

The "Presto" bits use HAL and a probe program to identify new USB 
printers when they are attached.  The thing is that many printers don't 
identify themselves as the exact model on the sticker.  Often they will 
identify themselves as "MFG XXXX series" and have several different 
models based on the same hardware.   That's why your 8150 is identified 
as an 8100 series printer.
The ospm (Open Solaris Print Monitor) applet attempts to match a PPD 
file to the mfg/mdl data from the printer, but the matching is really a 
"best" match and not all that great yet.  When we update HPIJS, 
GimpPrint and other printer support bits, we should end up with more and 
better PPD files to match.  At any rate, for the time being, there is 
still the potential for some trial and error.
