I downloaded and tried this using cups (old) from the
CCD and the system's ghostscript (ESP 8.15.1 -
usr/sfw/bin/gs) and foomatics (but not to a samsung
printer) and it got passed gs okay (& output junk on
printer as expected). So is it the version of gs that
you are using with the ppd file that is the problem?
Note, s10 u4 has other ppd files for a Samsung-ML-1710
printer in /usr/lib/lp/model/ppd - you could try one
of those if you get nowhere with the one you
downloaded.
Note FYI, also for CCD cups I got the symbolic links
for foomatic-rip wrong in my previous email, it should
have been ...
# ln -s /usr/lib/lp/bin/foomatic-rip \
/opt/sfw/cups/lib/cups/filter/.
