Hi,
I have set up a print queue on a Mavericks laptop using this:
sudo lpadmin -p ccc1cups -E -P
/Users/rcc2/tmp/production_ppds/xrx4510n.ppd -v
'http://print-test.cit.cornell.edu:631/printers/ccc1?encryption=always'
When I print to ccc1cups, I get prompted for ID and password. When I
enter the correct ID and password, the job is sent to the server and all
is well.
However, if I enter an incorrect password, the ID/password prompt
disappears and the print job languishes in the local queue.
Here is another person with the same problem:
http://serverfault.com/questions/424378/mac-os-x-printing-to-cups-more-intuitive-authentication-failure
This seems profoundly unsatisfactory to me. Is there a way to produce
more logical behavior?
Yours,
-Rick
