Thank you, William, for catching onto this ongoing mix-up with names. I believe the requests that have been directed to "Kristi" (who does not exist, at least on this listserv), are actually meant for me. I have been trying since yesterday morning to post an explanation of the name mix-up along with my PHI/data mapping tool and guidelines for using it, with a brief synopsis of how we've conducted this project here in Napa County, but my posting keeps being rejected as "too large to post". One of our co-subscribers, Beth Cole from Kansas, who happens to be an IS specialist, caught onto the problem and has offered to try to find an alternative method to post the attachments. So stay tuned.
Meanwhile, as an interesting sideline about how listservs and email strings can become distorted (like the old game of "telephone") here is how I think the names got mixed up, and why I didn't respond right away to everyone's requests, (because they weren't directed to me.). I believe the misunderstanding arose on September 16th when Lin Quinkert responded to a posting from Kirsten Wild about a walk-through assessment Kirsten's organization had completed. A small typo caused Lin's response to be addressed to "Kristen". Lin noted the importance of tracking PHI flow and asked whether their organization had done such an assessment. I responded to Lin's comments, agreeing with her that it is a crucial part of the process, and noting that we had completed a data flow mapping project using a tool we created. That "tool" is, I believe, what everyone is asking for. Unfortunately, the first list member to request the "tool" we created thought that my response was from "Kristen" and then apparently distorted the name further and it became "Kristi". So, as I said, stay tuned. Worst case scenario - I'll send the #$&@% things to everyone individually! Cheri Huber, Napa County Privacy Officer -----Original Message----- From: William J. No "Kristi" has written into any WEDI listserve that I've seen offering a PHI Map or map flow or Workflow or whatever. This "Kristi" must be an urban-legend. It all started on Tuesday when Cynthia Wise, apparently writing a private e-mail to some Kristi, posted to the Privacy listserve seemingly by accident. Please forward all requests to Kristi through Cynthia. Does this prove my point that we should be more careful with e-mail? William J. Kammerer Novannet, LLC.
