g'day bro ! the way i do it is add
media-sound/aqualung ** ~*
into /etc/portage/package.keywords.
note the ** and not -*; this is a pro-audio thing now for cvs/svn versions

I changed -* to ** and it worked. My problem now is I just don't
understand what '**' means. I get ~amd64 or ~x86. What the heck is
'**'?
Anyway - thanks - it is unmasked and built.
