That's what I thought but I only got hdsploader installed. mixer and conf are not on the system. I'm dealing with a complete system crash and I'm not sure what was in my old make.conf file, but I thought it was just ALSA_CARDS="hdsp usb" Is that not enough? I vaguely remember issues about installing gtk or something but that was taken care of by emerge I thought. Here's what I'm seeing: firefly ~ # equery f alsa-tools [ Searching for packages matching alsa-tools... ] * Contents of media-sound/alsa-tools-1.0.22: /usr /usr/bin /usr/bin/ac3dec /usr/bin/extract_ac3 /usr/bin/hdsploader /usr/bin/sbiload /usr/bin/us428control /usr/share .... Is hdsp not the right sound card flag? Thanks, Mark
