Hi Matt.

Are you using cyrus-sasl package version 2.1.25? It seems to break
something in the authorization mechanism. The generic failure is some
voodoo from one of the developer, who was to lazy to implement the output
message the right way. ;)

If you're downgrading SVN to 1.6 then maybe you should also try downgrading
cyrus-sasl to 2.1.23-r4 (latest stable).
>From what I read it seems that subversion 1.7 would have problems with
cyrus-sasl 2.1.23 and vice versa: svn 1.6 won't go with cyrus-sasl 2.1.15.
It a really odd issue over here and there is a chance that I read something
wrong, so I'm pasting the links below:

http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-6891788.html
http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.os.openbsd.ports/51033

It's not only a Gentoo issue. It's troubling OpenBSD users as well. I even
found a Debian user with the same problem, but still the only solution
seems to be sticking to stable versions for the time being.

(Still: I hope I'm wrong about the whole thing.)

Regards.
